Critics agree: Hot Waffles is a band.
Hot Waffles  "Breakfast of Champions"

Reviewed November 1, 2000, last messed with October 17, 2004  by Eric Houg

Score: 65  100 means excellent.  Scores range from 0 to infinity, infinity being best. 50 points does not mean flunk. It just means there was half as much good stuff as on a 100 pointer.

Comments
Welcome to the self deprecating humoratorium.  The guitars are sufficiently growly.  The drums are crashy enough.  Several of the songs are on strange subject matters that are difficult to give thumbs up to, like "Drunken Shaolin" and "Three-Legged Cat".  They are best suited for a new show called "Huh, What The Hell Was That?"  Most tracks were limited by the writing stage, adequately played, probably won't get airplay, almost but not quite.  Maybe they should have called the album "Almost", but Raymond & Scum already took that name.  However, if there was a show with a topic like food or Muppets, the songs here would do nicely.
Breakfast of Champions... That reminds me of a short soundfile: RealAudio, MP3
The CD is a high quality CD-R that is almost as shiny as a regular CD (that is a good thing).  So the CD had no problem playing in my DVD player.  The tray insert and booklet are also homemade but look pretty close to the polished mass produced stuff.  Slight chop-offage on the front cover printing.  Cool front cover.

The Best
14.  Bert and Ernie are Gay?  02:46
This song sounds different with trippy sound processing, sound samples and a better beat.  The Bertlike sounds at the end made me laugh.
Subject: Could This Be Hot Waffles?   Date:  December 29, 1999   From:
Hot Waffles has decided to take demented music into the new millennium. We've  teamed up with the crazy djs from the group "Mad Science Academy" to produce a new song that we hope you
 enjoy.

FAQ Are Ernie and Bert gay?
This is a source of wide speculation, but nothing has ever been said on "Sesame Street" to indicate that Ernie and Bert have any sexual or romantic feelings at all.

Second Through Sixth Best
6.  Salisbury Steak TV Dinner (I Love You)  2:50
Who better than Chris Waffle to sing a love song to a TV dinner?  I wonder if his wife is jealous.

15.  Elmo Makes a Scene  03:02
Elmo's voice could be more Elmoish, but it's hard to go wrong with the great concept of a tempermental, prima donna, big star Elmo.  Particularly funny was how they captured the way Elmo talks in the third person... "Elmo will be in Elmo's trailer!"

2.  We Suck Live  03:06
It kind of rocks. Forgive me, Elvis. It's only suck rock.

11.  The Day After I Died  2:14

13.  Shalom!  03:14
Longer title: I Answer The Phone Shalom.
The recording needs more editing to remove the weak parts.
Line most Adam Sandlerlike:  I'm still a quarter jewish and that aint too shabby.

Comments on neither best nor worst stuff:
4.  Burgers, Fries, and Eternal Damnation  4:14
This skit is about as funny as ordinary chat on radio shows that try to amuse.  So you don't need it on a CD when you can just turn on your radio and get some.

16.  D.E.B.B.I.E. or D-E-B-B-I-E  04:08
The weakest of the three Debbie songs.  More "we suck" type comments.  Ranking the three versions...
#1  Throwing Toasters
#2  Raymond & Scum
#3  Hot Waffles

Worst Stuff:
10.  "13 Year Old Girls are Gonna Love This Song"  3:25
I hate this song.  It puts down the boy bands using a song that is clearly inferior to the boy band stuff.  Lyrics not good either.  But hey, I did hear this one on the radio. Yikes.

12.  My Father The Fowl - Episode 1  05:00
A canned laugh track sitcom that screams "Keep the day job!"
Chris Waffle: It's supposed to be a satire of really bad gimmicky sitcoms from the 80's.
